Dear Brethren:

It’s been a busy summer in The Second Masonic District. On July 29th, Beth Horan Lodge (from the 5th District) and Nehoiden Lodge merged. The ceremony was held in the Needham Masonic building with our Grand Master, Most Worshipful Roger W. Pageau presiding. A suite of distinguished Grand Lodge officers performed the merger ceremony and also the installation of all officers of the new lodge. The new Beth Horan Lodge will meet in Needham and be in our Second Masonic District.

The Independence Lodge raised its first Master Mason in May. At the June Quarterly Communication of Grand Lodge, a vote was taken to grant the lodge a Charter. The date for the Ceremony of Constitution has been set for September 17th, exactly 223 years from that day in 1787 when the United States of America signed its Constitution. This ceremony will be held in Grand Lodge in Boston.

The Second and Fifth Lodge of Instruction continues to provide excellent programs and education. The May LOI showcased our youth as Rainbow performed the Father’s Degree. In June, we were treated to a presentation of the Flower Talk by members of John Eliot Chapter, Order of DeMolay of Natick.

Fraternal Visits of the District Deputy Grand Master are over and the attendance was strong. The distinguished suites have been noticed and commented on by quite a few Masonic dignitaries. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.

Finally, the weather held out at the Grand Master’s Fair and the Purple People’s Dunk Tank was again, the most popular event at the fair. Even the Grand Master stopped by and dunked one of our guests with one shot. How awesome was that?

The summer months are here and now it is time for rest and refreshment. Let’s recharge our batteries and prepare for the upcoming Masonic Year. Enjoy your times with family and friends and have a wonderful summer.

This is the first website for our district and we are very proud to have entered into the realm of the internet age.  The Lodges of the Second Masonic District have been a part of Massachusetts Masonry for a long time.  Over the years, redistricting has brought changes to the district several times.  Yet as districts change, the bonds of fraternal brotherhood remain strong and our commitment to Masonry continues.

Our goal here is to provide a resource for Masons to stay abreast with the busy agendas of our nine lodges.  Here, visitors will also discover valuable information about the lodges, our Grand Lodge and our worldwide fraternity.

Masonry is a way of life for thousands of individuals around the world, and a lifestyle which has brought contentment and satisfaction to many.
